The 5-year Uganda Nutrition Action Plan, 2011–2016 (UNAP), developed by the Government of Uganda, provides a framework for addressing the country’s nutrition issues. The plan aims to improve the nutritional status of all Ugandans, with emphasis on women of reproductive age, young children, and infants. The plan is intended to reduce the prevalence of malnutrition in Uganda and mitigate its impact on individuals, households, communities, and the country at large. In conjunction with the plan’s rollout, the government produced a short message targeting district- and lower-level leaders to raise their awareness of the nutrition situation in the country. The UNAP has been extended for one year while the nutrition policy and strategy are finalized.
